July 20, 2019 – Catfish in the shade.

Early Saturday Morning at Walnut creek. Catfish don’t normally start biting until afternoon, so I gave the whopper plopper a try. Threw it at an angle to the bank and slowly reeled back in.

I did get one bite from a small bass. I was able to remove the treble hooks without hooking myself.

It’s already hot by 10 in the morning, so I got in close to the bank where the shade was. I prefer the high banks, so snakes can’t sneak up on you. It’s a little cooler there, you just have to be aware of the branches hanging down.

I caught another ten small cats all around this same size using Secet 7 dip bait. All hooks were set in the corner of the mouth, so no hooks were lost today.

Of course their was one large fish. Another catfish caught on the secret 7. I started drifting out into the heat, so I decided to paddle back to the bank. It was hot out there.
