Joe Pool Lake – Loyd Park. (Catfish)

Hit the water at sunrise.  Couldn’t find any shad near the boat ramp, so I would have to use a dip bait for cats. My plan was to paddle down to walnut creek, since the wind was supposed to be high. Paddled to the opening that leads to the lake and realized the wind was already too high.  Waves were coming in high.

I dipped into a cove and decided to try to catch a few bluegills.  I threw a plastic worm around, followed by a road runner, but did not get any bites.

Dropped a slip bobber in near a tree and got a bite.  It was a nice catfish in about four feet of water.  I switched to my catfish gear and caught around ten cats.  Only two were of decent size.

Paddled back to Bowman creek and caught a few more catfish.  I was getting ready to leave, when I got an 8 pound cat to bite.  Had to use the net to get it in.  It took around 20 minutes to get it out of the net and on the stringer.
