February 12, 2013 – Lancaster Park

Overcast, raining, cold.  Time to go fishing.  I went out to Lancaster Park to get my fix.  Water has come up a little, but still needs more rain.  I didn’t see any bluegills in the shallows, so I took my spinning rod.

Threw a plastic frog near the weeds by the library, but did not get any hits. Worked my way around the pond throwing a white road runner.  Only got one hit in open water.  A small bass.

While walking on the bridge, I saw a mess of weeds and thought, “WWJD” ?  Which is what would Jimmy Houston do?

Of course Jimmy would drop a plastic worm in there.  So I got my shaky head bullfrog worm and started dropping it in to any gaps I could locate.  I got two very light bites and two small bass.

February 6, 2013 – Walnut Creek at Joe Pool Lake.

I tried a little fishing in January, but realized that I did not know what i was doing in the cold weather.  I spent more time being cold than catching fish.  I did catch a white bass on Jan 10, which is the first fish of 2013.

Today started out foggy, light rain around 62 degrees.  Water temp started at 58 degrees and finished the day at 63 degrees.  Water in the creek is starting to rise, but still needs a lot more rain.

I jigged all my crappie spots and casted in locations where I’d previously caught white bass and only managed one bass for the day.  The fog cleared and it was partly cloudy, so I had a good time.
