Huffines Park @ 6am June 20, 2011

Went by the park to test out the wooly buggers I tied.  I caught over twenty green sunfish in just about an hour using the black bugger I tied with a little red flash in the tail.  I forgot my small pliers, so I couldn’t bend the barb down on the other buggers.

It was very windy, but I got the wind behind me and I was able to cast pretty good.

Starting new blog for panfish.

Since I spend so much time fishing and reading about fishing, I decided to blog about it. I’m still waiting for the Texas winds to die down so I can get out on the kayak and do some more fishing.

Of course there will be the occasional bass caught, and even a few catfish.

My light rod is a 8’6″ 6wt Three Forks rod from Cabela’s.  It uses a 6wt Redington Drift reel.  I use the rod mostly when fishing from the bank on lakes and ponds.

My heavy rod is a 9′ 8wt Three Forks rod also from Cabela’s.  It uses an 8wt  Prestige Plus III reel. I use this one when I take the kayak out to the lake.

This is my first official year with the fly rod.  I picked up a cheap one two years ago (a pfluger I think), but just used it a few times.  The high winds this year gave me a chance to use the old rod a little more. I caught alot of bluegills and a few bass, so I upgraded my equipment.

I fish mostly small ponds and area lakes in the Dallas area.
